Review of Blood Diamond (2006) by Antony G — 28 Oct 2014
A very powerful drama which kept me glued to the screen from start to finish. It also brings home what a disgusting Race we are & what lengths we go to & over what? Something out of the ground, be it gold, oil or diamonds.
Set against the backdrop of the civil war in Sierra Leone over diamond fields, Solomon Vendy is captured, after his village is attacked, & separated from his family & is forced to work mining diamonds. He finds a large rare rough pink diamond & goes to great lengths to hide it & hopefully escape & return to sell it & find his family. But it's soon clear that his secret is no longer a secret & he has mercenaries & smugglers trying to get the diamond for their own gain.
