Review of Blood Diamond (2006) by Tristan M — 06 Jun 2015
Wow I did not see this movies greatness coming. It caught me complete by suprise, is interesting and exciting all the way through, and everything is top notch. The story is great, and action is very well done and I have no idea how I haven't heard of this one sooner.
This movie really opened my eyes up to what was really going on in Sienna Leone, no matter how realistic this may be, it doesn't shy at all to violence, gore or brutality. It tells the story in all of it's terror and crazyness, all over diamonds.
Child soldiers have never been shown like this before, neither has the mass killing of entire villagers in cold blood or crossfire from both sides. It's a steady story, with great characters, who are very well played by their respected actors.
I was unsure at the beginning how it would play out with Leo's accent, but he did an exceptional job and never faltered. The cinematography was excellent, and were the locations they shot on, and it all felt too real.
The hectic car chases and battles, and finishes it off with a very well done and surprisingly sad ending, that caught me off guard. Simply everything was perfectly done, and I'm amazed it turned out as good as it did.
Don't know how I managed to miss it until now.
