Review of Blood Diamond (2006) by Ankur B — 17 Jun 2014
Blood Diamond is a powerful film filled with incredible action sequences and is packed with career definining performances from Leonardo DiCaprio and Dijimon Hounsou. The struggles induced onto the 3rd world countries as a result of various companies vying for the supply of conflict diamonds are realized as a devastating truth.
A fantastic soundtrack and breath-taking cinematography reel the viewer in, and the fine performances of the lead trio captivate the audience. The biting social commentary is complimented with chemistry shared by the oscar nominated duo as we experience an adventure as the pair scavenge Sierra Leone in search of the one thing they respectively can't live without.
A personal favorite, Blood Diamond boasts one of Leonardo DiCaprio's best ever performances, and continues to be a politically important film as the war rages on for peace and equality.
