Review of Blood and Wine (1996) by Andrew C — 05 Sep 2016
With a legendary starring cast (Jack Nicholson, Michael Caine) and a mildly interesting supporting cast (Jennifer Lopez, Stephen Dorff) a beautiful setting (sunny Florida) and a classic tale (thieves who need one more score), this movie has plenty of ingredients to cook up something special.
While Nicholson & Caine deliver worthy performances, their characters are chaotic and the overall script leads everyone to places that don't make sense leaving the audience confused and with no one for which to cheer.
It's surprising and unfortunate to have so many of the right ingredients being combined in a way that somehow ends up being less than the sum of its parts. 7/19/9.
