Review of Blood and Chocolate (2007) by Andrew K — 21 Oct 2008
As I said I am interested in the Occult...you know werewolves (the key theme of the film), ghosts, vampires and other ghoulish things; and also I get a nack of literary movies (as I said many, many times), even from horror novels like this werewolf story. The film's story is based on the novel with the same name by Annette Curtis Klause that tells the tale of nineteen-year-old Vivian Gandillon, who has spent her life on the run from the truth...that she really is a werewolf. When her affections for a visiting American graphic novel artist named Aiden threatens to expose her family's secret society, she must choose between her love for an outsider and betraying the secret vows of her family. The tale is a mixture of Gothic myth and teenage romance that will appeal to horror/occult fans (like me); so after reading the novel and watching the film, I found that I love both this film and the original novel.
And like I said (a million times), I was shocked and suprised by the negative reviews I would see on the web, I thought it's an awesome film!
