Review of Blood and Black Lace (1964) by Art S — 01 May 2011
This early giallo from Mario Bava is, as advertised, full of stunning set-pieces with candy-colored lighting, creative sets and camerawork -- but the misogyny and violence were too much for me (it's no wonder I've been skipping most slasher/horror films).
You can see where Dario Argento found inspiration, but the plot here is wafer-thin (even with a couple of twists). Black Sunday and Black Sabbath are both better.
