Review of Blockers (2018) by Jesse S — 13 Jul 2018
Being a man, I generally hate romantic comedies because they're almost never funny, and this movie didn't disappoint. It was basically American Pie but starring a bunch of extremely unfunny female "teenagers" with extremely unfunny parents. The jokes are very few and far between and all land with a thud thanks so such poor writing and poor acting and poor casting and poor directing.
There are two "gross-out" scenes that were so bad that I actually had to stop watching the movie for a few minutes during both.
As is required in female-centered racy movies, we have to hear plenty of times about how men and their certain body parts are so disgusting "it's like holding a dead snake" but then we're shown fully naked men several times for no apparent reason. And they're not attractive men but they're old men like the guy who plays Lumbergh in Office Space, because that's someone I've always wanted to see completely naked, because I guess the women who hate seeing men's naked bodies want to see Lumbergh. For some reason.
Another 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back, which I was forced to watch by my wife, who actually spend the entire movie texting on her phone because deep down even she knew the movie was stupid and unwatchable.
