Review of Blitz (2011) by Mike M — 29 May 2011
Hollywoods most wanted Cockney Geezer Jason Statham is back daaaan the East End of London as a Hardnut Copper Brant on the trail of a serial killer known as "Blitz" played with an overdose of swaggering psychosis by Aidan Gillen.
The film takes quite an outdated approach to policework which conflicts with its portrayal of policing in modern london thus removing any realism the filmmakers were going for.
Brantz brutal actions ultimately lead to Blitzes psychotic hatred towards the police so it seems that Violence breeds violence but you never get time to dwell on that messege before more violence ensues with intermittent funny one liners from Brant.
Despite the huge discrepancies this film is still suprisingly watchable thanks to the three leads who are experianced and pull a film like this out of the fire, if only just.
