Review of Blitz (2011) by Remi L — 07 Sep 2011
If you're hoping for an action-packed flick, this isn't really the film for you. While Statham is best when he's kicking butt, he's also at his best when he's being a smart mouth. In Blitz he's a washed-up cop who likes to play vigilante off the clock. A stroke of luck finds him in the form of a serial killer targeting cops and he's called back on duty to help solve the case. Partnered with a fellow washed-up copper, the two battle the prejudice of their precinct and the cynicism of the press to end this serial killer's spree.
The best part about this film is the dialogue. Like I said, Statham plays a great jaded, mouthy character. Especially one who has little-to-know respect for anyone around him. He's quick with the jokes and insults wherever he is and its always entertaining. This film isn't great, its good, not great, but maybe I'm biased because I'm a Statham fan. I still found it enjoyable.
