Review of Blindspotting (2018) by Wayne M — 28 Dec 2018
Blindspotting is a knockout of a film that is many, many things. Social commentary on race and position, buddy film, comedy. It's ambitious and confident. It swings for the fences and mostly manages to succeed.
Collin, played superbly by Daveed Diggs, is on probation and trying to piece his life back together. He reunites with his best friend Miles and together they experience the warts and all life of Oakland.
They encounter and tackle racism, gentrification and crime. This smart and essential film is a vital take on modern American society and how we live and sell ourselves. It's also about friendship and loyalty and the pressures of modern life.
Rich and overflowing with humanity, it's not to be missed.
