Review of Blindspotting (2018) by Adam M — 06 Sep 2018
I think Anthony would have really liked this movie. The tone is a little inconsistent, it flips back and fourth from a hard-hitting drama to a goofy sitcom at the drop of a hat. This is often on purpose, creating an element of poignant juxtaposition, but is occasionally distracting and took me out of the movie a bit.
This is just one more film this year by an astounding director on their first feature film. It is a relevant, empathetic movie, that tells a story like this from a new perspective. How this can affect someone who is just a bystander, and how a bystanders circumstances can prevent them from speaking truth to power.
After the climactic scene in the cop's basement, I had the sudden realization that I hadn't been breathing for the past minute and had to catch my breath.
