Review of Blind Mountain (2007) by Thomas H — 26 Mar 2009
The director's previous film Blind Shaft was way better. This one bothered me on too many levels to really enjoy it. It's a very interesting and brutal story but the pace, logic and acting just didn't seem to work for this.
The guy goes very much documentary style, I know, but even then, the girl's ordeal never seem to bring much more than a few shouts and then sobbing like a kid that didn't get dessert. They keep pointing out how she's college educated but she keeps doing the dumbest things.
Oh yeah, the whole village is in on the scam, but sure the mailman won't! Sure, you can escape wearing a red coat and walking in the middle of the only road leading out of the village! And the list goes on.
