Review of Blind Husbands (1919) by Elijah B — 14 Apr 2008
Erich Von Stroheim at his sleazy best as an effete Prussian Officer who uses his high western culture in low ways to seduce the wife of an honest, simple, smalltown American doctor on holiday, all surveyed dimly by the salt-of-the-earth mountain guide whose town plays host to them all.
Blind Husbands also contains some stunning early filming of mountaineering, which show Stroheim's facility for captivating direction.
