Review of Blind Dating (2006) by Jc E — 17 Mar 2011
To say that this movie follows a fairly well-trod formula is a bit of an understatement. However, it's still somewhat charming. Still, despite the dual cross-culture love story that has hints of originality, the film falls victim to both the pitfalls of romantic comedies and the inadvertent medical drama.
Chris Pine (Star Trek) does his best in the lead, as does Anjali Jay as his love interest, but they are short-changed by a predictable plot and cheesy scenarios. Even the almost funny bits with Jane Seymour (Live and Let Die) and Katy Mixon (All About Steve) feel too little too late.
It's definitely not the worst romantic comedy out there, but it certainly doesn't rank very high either.
