Review of Blended (2014) by Luis B — 17 Aug 2014
Rom-com telling us the story of widower Jim and bitter divorcee, Lauren; they have a dreadful date and quickly decided they are not meant for each other. However mysterious circumstances force them to take a holiday together with their 5 kids in a spectacular resort in Africa where the heat, the wonderful scenery and their parental instincts make them bond beyond their friendly terms. They enjoy their time together and they fix each others issues relating to their troubled kids.
I can see a good intention here but this film is far too sugary and predictable, I really don't have a problem with that, it is almost to be expected in a romantic comedy but I am a little concerned about the unrealistic portrayal of this untroubled and stereotypical Africa, it doesn't look as anything I have been seeing in the news recently but here we go. You can enjoy the love story, the landscape and everybody's best efforts but there is something in the script that doesn't ring true.
