Review of Blended (2014) by Sugarfall S — 21 Aug 2014
It's hard to ever really criticize sander because he's so clearly sincere in his attempts to make great family movies that make you laugh and admiration and gratitude tend to overwhelm the compulsion to be mean.
Blended was a great idea done with his typical charm and humor and there's not real chemistry but there's the suggestion that it might not be necessary to appreciate the real moral of the story which has more to do with learning to forgive and forego in the 21st century because we are all uniquely riddled ever-more daily with flaws needing it.
The recipe most sander movies follow is hard to avoid and even harder to mimick over and over without it losing its import but if nothing else the man entertains and that is something worth watching, paying for, and being grateful for.
His best movies are probably already on your elves but it does not mean I want him to stop.
