My husband and I watched this tonight on MC - Movie Central. Can not recall any promo or advertising, so it was a random pick with a pleasant surprise. I have to say that we loved the humour, innocence of re exploring unworldly widower (Sandler) who lost his wife. There was many serendipitous moments when it eventually became clear that they both needed to take a blind leap of faith of trusting themselves and each other when fate kept bringing them together. Felt the lesson throughout is (Barrymore - single mom) not assuming who someone is based on first impressions, and (Sandler) improving self awareness to gain confidence. Then no longer apologetic that his family is a burden to most woman, feeling not worthy of someone coming along and validating your family with pride. There is always another chance at love, as no one shud be lonely no matter the age.. Really great movie, haven't seen a wholesome movie like this since 'Second Hand Lion', 'Life's a Box of Chocolates', Griswolds 'Christmas Vacation' , 'City Slicker' type comedy. There is a more recent comedy with another well-written humorous screenplay, unfortunately the name escapes me (pending).

CONS: Like National Lampoon's 'Christmas Vacation' where Clark G is infatuated with Christie Brinkley's, there was unnecessary sexual overtones with a couple that stayed close by at resort. It cheapened the movie, and limits audience in ordering (or buying) for family movie night if kids under 12 or 13. It added no comedic value in the movie, cheapened the woman's character, but somewhat relieved that it wasn't another possible adulterous relationship like 'Christmas Vacation's where Clark G. would have done it, if he could have found the opportunity behind the naked pool scene.... Just my opinion based on someone who had all boys, and everyone got weirded out if a movie had sexual relations or overtones. and we cudn't skip thru it in time.. . eek.

Thank you for the opportunity to rate. sue hart Edmonton area, AB.
