Review of Bleed for This (2016) by Lane Z — 25 Sep 2017
Bleed for This adds to a long line of boxing films success not for its fighting, but for its unbelievable story of courage and resistance. The never-say-quit attitude for Vinny Pazienza is endearing instead of annoying. Miles Teller puts forth a compelling performance. Aaron Eckhart compliments him well. Those two really make the movie for what it is.
The fight scenes don't necessarily come off as ground breaking. We've certainly seen better choreography in other boxing films before, but it's the scenes between the fights that keep you entertained and involved.
While you coast through this film, you can't help but wonder how exciting of a person Vinny is behind the scenes. It doesn't quite get the success of his career across the viewers, but it does give you insight into his prolific comeback, which deserves in its own right a story to be told.
