For an anime adaptation live-action movie, it does a really good job of laying down the rules of the universe, the character dynamics and personalities, and does make you feel as if the anime's characters are betrayed.
It genuinely made me laugh at some points, and the changes to the plot from the anime were refreshing instead of frustrating. It's one anime movie that I wouldn't mind having a sequel from.
