Review of Blazing Saddles (1974) by Francis L — 21 May 2014
I really can't say much that hasn't already been said about this classic, so I'll just mention a few of my favorite moments. First, gotta love the interplay between Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder.
The 'chess' scene reminds me so much of a similar scene in "The Magnificent seven". Alex Karras just cracks me up as "Mongo". Harvey Korman is excellent (and, I've got to admit, I really don't care for him too much - probably from constantly seeing him as the 'Bud Abbott' to Tim Conway's 'Lou Costello' on "The Carol Burnett Show").
Gad, the brilliant script (which does make liberal use of certain words, but IMO that's more to mock people who actually talk like that). If you just flat out love comedy, you've got to add this to your dossier.
