(1999) Blast From The Past.
COMEDY.
In order for someone to appreciate this vehicle has to understand it's history since it centers on a particular time when nuclear arms was a serious threat both to the United States and Russia which was during the 'Cold War' and bomb shelters were suggested to be built. Anyways, the set up takes place in the early 1970's showcasing a geeky family hearing about a serious nuclear arms threat motivating him and his family to move into a secluded bomb shelter as a result of assuming that a nuclear war had actually taken place. After many years later to the present time that young boy grows up to be the Brenden Fraser character who eventually becomes alone after his father pases away deciding to take liberty upon himself to finally leave the bomb shelter compund for the first time in many years since he was down with supplies and the film dwells with how he copes with all the new technology eventually meeting the Alicia Silverstone character.
Endearing and convincing which does not dwell too much on politics than on the characters themselves. Still relevent since anything can happen and nuclear arms is always a threat.
3 out of 4.
