Review of Blair Witch (2016) by John-Dylan B — 20 Sep 2016
Perhaps one of the most exhilarating films I've come across in recent memory, in working in tandem with the original, Blair Witch sets one's bones ablaze with horror and thrills. Whereas the original had more subtlety and longevity and better marketing, the sequel counters it with truly horrific, spine tingling, ferocious directing and cinematography.
The characters have better depth and variety and the story is far more complex, rehashing old stories and giving them more intricate plot structure and meaning. I could do with less constant jump scares and would have rather viewed a film that subverts that culture in cinema but for one that does subscribe to it, it is grade A.
