Review of Blair Witch (2016) by Will K — 19 Sep 2016
This was not as bad as the critics say but I am a fan of the original. One thing I really like was the juxtaposition between the two generations of the movies. I was about 20 when the original came out and the movie depicted well what is was like to grow up in the 90â(TM)s. The flannel shirts, crappy car, no money, cool music, cheap booze, and ripping butts. The characters in the first were also concerned about worrying their girlfriend, getting borrowed equipment back on time and getting to work. The remake showed how selfish and boring people have gotten.
The movie itself was ok, you could not capture the magic of the original. You could tell the camping scenes were on a set which took away some of the magic, that said what they did duplicating the house was amazing. To many of the startling scares where cheap and again you are left shrouded in mystery. Overall it was fun but I did find myself wishing it would be over at times.
