Review of Blair Witch (2016) by James K — 22 Jan 2017
This is of course not the original Blair WItch movie and so stop complaining of the lack of originality of the scare factor. You should just stick to watching The Blair Witch Project again. But if you've missed the boat, including the promo that had "gone viral" around the time of release, then this one is perhaps not a bad replica.
Set after what happened at the Blair Witch Project, and so essentially a sequel. We get to go deep into the woods, and get disoriented all over again. This movie as a stand-alone would have enough elements to be very scary, and of course the firm belief that the characters introduced were ALL going to die, painfully or not, dampened the shock a bit. The running around the house was thrilling, but the arrival of allien (or Blair Witch herself) felt somehow misplaced.
Not many horror movies made sense. Why would people return to that forest is completely beyond me.
