Review of Blair Witch (2016) by Tracy S — 18 Sep 2016
The movie follows Heather Donahue's baby brother back into the woods to try to find his long-lost sister after 20 some years.. The movie is almost a beat for beat remake of the original. I will give it more credibility for there are few more scares then the original that actually shocked me and also a pretty claustrophobic scene that's kind of intense.. So, unlike the original where all we heard was howls, kinda Hitchcockian where we're left to our own devices to create images in our mind they do give us fleeting glimpses of the Blair Witch..
So like many sequels it falls short of the original.. Which in the originals case was the first of its kind to blur reality and fiction, which in turn started a whole new generation of those type of films, hence the reason it was such a Blockbuster.. Originality, which this film lacks..
