Review of Blades of Glory (2007) by Karla E — 27 Aug 2012
It takes balls. It takes balls to do a comedy about figure skating. Not because the area is sacred or anything but most comedic writers wouldn't think of that. Being that this is a will ferrell comedy, it would include a pair straight men competing in couples skating in tight suits thus adding to the total appeal of comedy.
Ferrell really holds this film together by playing an alcoholic sex addict who happens to be one of the best figure skaters in the world, that alone is hilarious. The other played by Jon Heder or as we know, Napoleon Dynamite, as the simple flamboyant skater mixes well with not being able to cope with Ferrell's ferocity and strange tactics as a skater.
Will Arnett and Amy Poheler do a great job as well. You may not like Will Ferrell or his comedy, but don't skip this one, it's really great and slapstick comedy that everyone can enjoy.
