Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Nine A — 01 Jan 2018
Blade Runner 2049 is the best movie of 2017 (with Logan being a close second) and an audiovisual masterpiece.
Even though I love the original Blade Runner, this is a sequel that actually manages to surpass its predecessor.
Blade Runner 2049 expands on the universe established by the original movie and fills it with a much richer story, on top of amazing visuals, courtesy of Denis Vielleneuve and Roger Deakins.
And did I mention the score by Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch, that is actually just as good as Vangelis' original one?
Sure, you could have cut a few minutes of some of the slow scenes of this movie, but on the other hand that might have led to the movie loosing some of its atmosphere.
All in all, this is a masterpiece.
