Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Marlo Andreo M — 04 Jan 2018
Why "Blade Runner 2049" Is One of My Favorite Movies of All-Time?
"This article may contain spoilers, and contains a lot of boring stuff...It's your choice if you want to continue reading, you have been warned".
First of all...When I was a little boy, my parents would rent me a VHS or a DVD at the "video city" (for those of you who experienced spending money on a rental store, you are getting old...just kidding! hehe!) Unfortunately, rental stores in the Philippines are now dead. But it was a wonderful experience in my childhood...Anyways, so the first film that I ever laid my eyes on was "Jurassic Park", from that moment on I was mesmerized. I was constantly looking at the television wondering "How on earth did the dinosaurs live with the hoomans?" (Hehe! I was 3 years old for crying out loud, give me a break!) Ok! Moving on!
Anyhow...I said to myself, I don't care I still want to watch it even though I don't know understand English at that age. And I watched it again, and again, and again, until I memorized the freaking dialogue of the film...And then I started realizing, "How do they make the movies like this"...Hehe, It took a while for me to realize from that moment on, I wanted to become a film director.
All that said, In comparing to "Blade Runner 2049"...When I watched the movie, I just experienced it again, I was literally floored by how this movie looks so beautiful, because it is everything that I want in a movie...The film was 2 hours and 40 mins long, I don't care, I spent time watching it again. And as I witness every shot of the movie I begin to explore new things, like understanding it fully, and beginning to open my mind by just enjoying it...I was invested in the film so much, that my dad said, "Son! Why are you watching this boring movie?" (this is only an exaggerated explanation, but I think I know what he's talking about. hehe!) Anyways! I have to admit the film was very long for some people, but not for me!...I was raised watching so many movies that I can think of, it's like I can understand how a movie works, even on the awful ones, and on the guilty pleasure ones, and so on...Because, "Movie" is my life, without my parents I won't be writing this piece of garbage! haha! just kidding! I just wanted this article to be entertaining as possible.
Anyways, I just love this film. Why?, because it made me remember my childhood dream, with this movie, it made me realize that I can't give up. I need to pursue what I love, my passion of becoming a film director someday...
And that is why "Blade Runner 2049" Is One of My Most Favorite Movies of All-Time.
If you want to read more for my In-Depth Review of "Blade Runner 2049" don't be shy to scroll down, but if you had enough...It's Ok! hehe! Don't waste your time reading this piece of shhhhh!
On the opening shot of the film, director "Denis Villeneuve" explained the introduction of the movie...When I first saw that, I knew what this is all about, it's about a non-stop feast for the eyes, I've said this in my other review...I just can't stop saying it, this film really is a beautiful looking masterpiece, everyone did a great job in making this film...This is what movies are supposed to be, films like this, that can be transcendent, and can be an inspiration to somebody...To be honest, I saw "Chris Stuckmann's" Review about the movie, and he was also pleased to see the movie. For those of you who do not know, who "Chris Stuckmann" is...He's my favorite movie critic on youtube...
The characterization of the film was staggering, This may be "Ryan Gosling's" best performance since the movie "Drive" his role here was named "Officer K" or aka "Joe", and also "Harrison Ford" as Deckard Shaw..."Ana de Armas" played a role in the movie that I wasn't expecting named "Joi", she was the holographic girlfriend of our main protagonist, at first I wasn't quite sure about that, but once you understand "Officer K", you'll start to like "Joi"...As the film progresses, you'll get tons of surprises...I can't say anything else, because it might ruin the pacing for you...Ok! I'm just going to skip the "plot twist" part...Let's talk about the ending, the ending was so satisfying, I almost cried because "Thank God! that this movie doesn't have any sequel!" that's literally what I said in my head when I finished the movie, The movie has a story, and it tells it in "Blade Runner 2049"...the director really respected the film because he wanted to have one satisfying movie only, to end the "Blade Runner's" story. And that folks, still proves why "Blade Runner 2049" is One of My Most Favorite Movie of All-Time.
Hehe! Thank you very much for your time! It means a lot...
Anyways, Good Evening To All Of You, If you read it or not, still, A Good Evening To Ya! :).
