Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Elisa S — 07 Mar 2018
I loved this movie! While watching it, I was lost in the beautiful cinematography, from the wastelands to the neon lights of the city. As a cyberpunk fan, the world of 'Blade Runner' was extremely satisfying.
A few of the themes were also quite haunting and beautiful. The depiction of the loneliness of Officer K's life and his relationship with Joi, a hologram, stayed in my mind after the film for far longer than I had expected.
I walked into this movie thinking it was going to be a lot of action in a cool setting and that would (more or less) be it, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much of the movie revolved around what it means to be human and what makes us who we are.
I have to say, though, that I would've liked to see more of Leto's character because he seemed very intriguing.
