Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Bill M — 20 Mar 2018

Blade Runner 2049 was one of the most brilliant movies to come out in a long time. Like the original it tends to go over a lot of peoples heads, but in time it will be recognized as a masterpiece. Much of what made it a film that will go down in cinematic history as a masterpiece is very subtle.

It's not a movie for those easily distracted, it's themes don't smash you over the head, they are deeper, darker, poignant examples of what it truly means to be human, even if you're not human.

And that in a possible future of our own design, a disembodied AI is capable of feeling more hope, love and compassion than the rundown remains of a disillusioned human race.
