Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Metatherion M — 26 Jan 2018
This is going to be short and sweet, unlike the wait we had to endure for a sequel that nobody really asked for. But better late than never, despite reservations this film does what few follow ups in this day and age manage.
It actually adds to the lore and mythos of the original, while being its own creature and does nothing but honour the meaning and fabric of its predecessor. It doesn't explode the meanings that have been pondered for years concerning the first Blade Runner movie and wrapped around a thoughtful story are some of the most breathtaking and visually arresting film to hit the screens for a long time.
Bravo Mr Villeneuve, you took on a particularly delicate project and produced a masterpiece with aplomb.
