Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Vladimir T — 08 Jan 2018
Smart and elegant this movie is a good sequel to a legendary predecessor. However it comes with it's bad sides as it drags on still keeping you interested in what will be the final outcome, but making you not care too much. Sylvia Hoeks is a very interesting character to look at, but she does not come off as a frightening antagonist Ryan Gosling has to struggle to defeat.
In the original movie replicants were dangerous, cold and scary. In this movie the bad guy is (as always) the evil corporation that doesn't seem to be hurting anyone except for the actual replicants. How can we, non-replicants, relate to that?
You get a great cast, interesting visuals and a good style to enjoy, but you don't get a story that will be very important to you and unfortunately the movie will not go into the category of greats.
