Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Kaden C — 11 Nov 2017
"How can you ever make a sequel that lives up to Blade Runner?" Well take notes, because this is how sequels should be made. I won't even get into the plot, because you should go into this film knowing nothing other than what you learned from the first.
2049's plot is smart and complex, knowing what the audience is thinking and then taking a completely different turn. The cinematography is absolutely stunning, every shot is filled with a majestic landscape.
Whether it is futuristic Los Angeles or the wastelands of Las Vegas, Roger Deakins, the man behind the camera is a true master. Despite the 2 hour and 44 minute run time, there is absolutely no way you could be bored with the amount of eye candy given to you.
Ryan Gosling is spectacular playing Officer K who is a character who deals with so much discrimination, and Gosling captures it perfectly. Harrison Ford as on older Rick Deckard serves up his best role in years, giving the feel that he is traumatized by his previous experiences.
Overall, Blade Runner 2049 delivers a fascinating, complex Sci-Fi story that not only makes 2049 a great sequel, but a spectacular stand-alone achievement. Without a doubt, Blade Runner 2049 is the most perfect movie of the year and absolutely deserves an A+.
