Blade Runner 2049 is that unicorn of sequals; it delivers what a great orignal delivered.
The balance is struck between deference and originality, and it adds to the storyline in a manner neither deirvative or disingenuos.
No film will ever add the impact of the original to movie story telling, because that was an unrepeatable event, buit this film does provide a richness, an authenticity and an atmosphere that allows it to live up the the predocessor as much as a sequal to it ever really could.
