Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Joel V — 10 Oct 2017
Villeneuve creates a world which feels like it belongs in the same universe as Ridley Scott's 1982 Blade Runner, while also expanding on the lore of the original. It offers rich new characters while also adding extra arch's to already existing ones.
The story keeps the audience engaged throughout its 163 minute runtime, never making it over stay it's welcome. Credit for this should also be given to Roger Deakins whose cinematography always gives the eye something vibrant and beautiful to sit in awe at.
Overall a masterpiece in science fiction, whose themes of 'what is humanity?' will rival the original, making it a classic in years to come.
