Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by W W — 07 Oct 2017
First, it is not Blade Runner II. It does not pick up where the original one left off, it is a 35 years later somewhat similar story with an interesting twist.
Second, the sound track is so loud and omnipresent that it is the main feature in most scenes even obscuring critical dialog. So, if you can not find the book or story elsewhere then you will, like us, leave the theater with several mysteries unsolved.
Last, it does not have the detailed look and feel of the first movie. While the CGI is flawless in it's execution, it is lackluster in detail. This film steps back from the gritty close contact and tries to awe you with distance and open space.
All together, a lesser movie of what was a good story.
