Yes, it is a long movie. But it's overall rythm isn't that different from the original's.
Yes, there is product placement, but it's also the case for the original.
Yes, the intrigue is pretty simple overall, but that's also the case in the original (the "story" was simply Deckard chasing replicants, it's the implications AROUND the story that made it so great, just like in its sequel).
So overall, if you made one of these points above, but claimed 2049 "betrayed"' what the original was, answer this question: did you REALLY watch Scott's Blade Runner ? Because it sure doesn't seem like it.
Anyways, to be honest, I had immense expectations, and 2049 did not disappoint one bit. It's by all means not a flawless movie, but it indeed manages to stay true to its roots while expanding the BR universe in a stellar way.
One of the best movie of the year, easily.
