Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Preston J — 06 Oct 2017
This movie has the best visuals I?ve ever seen. If you enjoyed TRON: Legacy, Blade Runner 2049 blows it completely out of the water. The visuals for this movie were absolutely beyond stunning. The CGI felt real. At no point in time did I say ?Aw, they could have done that better.? Initially I didn?t think to watch it, but being that my friend suggested we go last night, I?m so glad I did.
The performance by Ryan Gosling was important and eerie in its own way, because he really portrayed a humanoid (in this movie, it?s a replicant) exceptionally well. He had feelings it seemed like he either denied himself, or the humans denied him of his humanity, despite replicants ability to feel happiness and sadness.
To all those hating on Jared Leto, his character was incredibly creepy, but being that he portrayed a blind mad scientist, you really felt that he as man was out of touch with his humanity, as he saw the replicants as nothing more than just his play things.
The whole movie truly made me feel pity and a sense of attachment to the characters, particularly the replicants who were doing nothing more than living their lives to the best of their ability, and just wanting to be treated like they are normal and real, just like us.
So, needless to say at this point, watch this movie. For a better understanding of the plot, watch the original, or just read the plot summary like I did.
