Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Richard J — 06 Oct 2017
Three stars for the cinematography.
Ryan Gosling's mug still looks great on a big screen.
The script: ouch. I'm a HUGE fan of the original BR. It was light years ahead in its 1982 debut, and in many ways, it still is.
I'm not going to post spoilers, so if you go to this not expecting too much, that works. There are some amazingly cool scenes-just at times it seems like the story board collapsed during the filming, and if the creators are lost, where does that leave the audience?
And PS: see it in IMAX but not 3D. The 3D format still makes everything look like it was lit with flashlights and candles-way too dark and full of shadows.
