Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Cindy H — 06 Oct 2017
Blade Runner 2049 is the long awaited sequel to the Blade Runner (1982), taking place in the 2019, 30 years later of the year 2049. Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. The film stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, who reprises his role as Rick Deckard, with Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto in supporting roles.
This is what film should be. I keep saying that every single time of the film that I like. But so to say this is a long waiting sci-fi action films that I've been waiting for. Everyone keeps telling me that Star Wars is the best sci-fi film ever been put onto the big screen. Even so to say 2001 a space Odyssey is the best sci-fi film ever put on the screen. But the first blade runner from I believe is the best sci-fi film. Truly to say but all changes when I saw blade runner 2049.
This is why I appreciate film, this is what drives me to get to the movie theater. For one thing people will not like this film because of the slow pacing and the noair tone that gives us for the two Blade Runner films. Visually it is amazing to analyze. Cinematography by Roger Deakins is breathtaking this whole film top to bottom is Oscar worthy all the way. But what I like the most about Blade Runner 2049 that it is its own movie. Yes it is the sequel to blade runner, but growing the world a blade runner it's breathtaking and miraculous.
Ryan Gosling it's growing towards to be one of my favorite actors working today. Drive is one of my favorite films of 2011, possibly easily in my top 10 of the decade. Then we have The Nice Guys, La La Land, and countless more. Except the notebook that is just horrifically bad. I'm just tired of everyone thinking that Ryan Gosling is a bland actor. But this film shows that he gave us 110% of his performs. Everybody in the film especially the director growing up at saying blade runner change their lives. For keeping us a true story of the universe Blade Runner.
Harrison Ford is only in the third act the film but it all ties in with his suspension throughout the film. His presence was there! Jared Letto was only in the film for only two sceans. Maybe more I didn't even count. But I have a strong feeling if they ever have a sequel, I think there will be more. Plus with all the countless mini short films that they been reaching out to promote this film is brilliant. Go see all of them there amazing. There are countless scene without Harrison Ford and Ryan gosling that is just in aw. Every single visual every single shot is a masterpiece ages looks like a beautiful painting throughout the two hours and 30 minutes of this film.
Comparing Blade Runner to Star Wars, yes I love Star Wars. But I only like Star Wars 1977, and the Empire Strikes Back. Throughout the whole saga, I really don't care. Yes I'll go into the theater with high expectations. But when I keep getting up to go to the theater. I get very disappointed. Tears ago I gave a positive grade Star Wars episode seven 9/10. Only because it is just a good action film. It is not a good sci-fi film. I'm only am hoping that the last Jedi proves that Star Wars is still alive and well. As I did say that it's been a long awaiting to see a great sci-fi film, and I mean that play runner 2049 is hands-down the best sci-fi film yet.
Blade Runner 2049 gave the audience a lot of suspense, a great handful of action, a great story, great characters and I mean it very great characters. Sorry this review did not contain any plots or anything because I want respective the director of what he gave us. I really don't want people to know the plot line. This film has to be experience in theaters. Denis Villeneuve and Ridley Scott made yet another great sci-fi film.
Denis Villeneuve is now a master of film. I always ask myself. What happened to all the masters where are the new masters. Where are the new Martin Scorsese's, where is the new Stanley Kubrick, where is the next Akira Korasawa? Even yet where is the next Steven Spielberg. Yes I am proud to say that Christopher Nolan is one of those masters, but I strongly know that Denis Villeneuve is a new master. Movies he directed like Sicario, Enemy, Prisoners, Arival, and now Blade Runner 2049. Every single year when I make my favorite movies of the year, his movies is always on it.
Don't make this film Mad Max Fury Road or Edge of Tomorrow. I am disappointed with the low box office rating right now go see it!!! NOW!!
Grade: A Perfect 10.
