Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Dave P — 06 Oct 2017
Blade Runner 2049 was like watching your favourite dog slowly die and there are no large rocks laying around to put it (or you) out of its misery. Poorly directed, lousy storytelling, uninteresting, unintelligent, agonzingly slow and flat acting (Ryan Gosling FFS why?) make BR2049 a painful disaster. 40 years later in the story and the technology/fashion is exactly the same. Some CG shots looked like they were from 1997 and turning the opacity down on a layer was the big VFX "trick" of the film.
LITERALLY every shot should have 3 seconds cut off and this would have been slightly more enjoyable. The only saving grace is Roger Deakins photography and the last 20 minutes of the film. What. A. Disappointment.
