Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Tom C — 07 Oct 2017
Visually stunning set, story slow and brooding.
Lotsa stunning set visuals, which set the mood. Pace is slow though, as though it wants u to take time digesting the visuals. This works in a Sci Fi film. Pacing falls flat, in back third, when Harrison shows up, and it needed to pull the storyline together.
But to the writers credit, there are alot of themes that are worth exploring on second watch, like what is real, and not real? Are our memories real? Are we the only species who know what is real? What are the possibilities of replicants? Like Villeneuve other films, Sicario and Arrival, this one may require a second watch. Nothing is spoon fed, this requires you to be alert, to watch this.
