Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Kirk B — 28 Dec 2018
I was so hoping that after this looooong, extremely drawn out spectacle, it will at least have a great ending. Nope.
Movie is long. And im not talking its 2.5 hour run, I mean its sloooooow and tedious. Whole thing could be fit into one hour. But it had to be made into this grand drawn out spectacle...with no point to it. It was so slow and boring and I had such great expectations for ending, that when it did end, I kinda missed it. About 10 seconds after final scene I was like "Thats it ?". There was nothing, ending was as boring as whole movie. Got to give it tho, it was consistently boring throughout the film. Perfectly balanced lethargic movie.
Lack of any particularly interesting content is comparable to desolate landscape that movie takes part in. Massive scenery filled with nothing but fog. With rain as homage to original. With several scenes that attempted and failed to capture(by simply copying) atmosphere of original movie.
