Review of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) by Aaron K — 25 Aug 2018

The original Blade Runner is sacred fare to its fab-base, myself included. I was smitten with the entire mystical world of the original, believing that it was right on the mark with its dystopian presentation. With that in mind, I was at first the same as everyone else on the matter; utterly skeptical of the necessity of a sequel.

Needless to say, I fell in love with this futuristic story all over again. An excellent concept, a fantastic twist and a believable cast with some of my Hollywood favorites. It's honest from the start with Ryan Gosling's character; a on-the-patrol Replicant who hunts others replicants as a Blade Runner. Add to that the ruthlessness of the environment which contains him, the diversity of the films sets and arenas, and you've got one exceptionally epic movie.

The concept of life, death, creation and love are all in there, carefully and respectfully showing us the best and worst of ourselves, while painting the most honest picture of our future. A great movie for science fiction lovers and a worthy sequel to the original classic.
