Review of Blade Runner (1982) by Brock E — 07 Jul 2014
Blade Runner's visuals are so powerful, William Gibson claimed that he almost gave up writing Neuromancer after watching this movie for the first time. Ridley Scott recognized the noir in science fiction - the angst and loneliness inherent to the cities of the future - almost single-handedly inventing cyberpunk along the way.
Blade Runner raises and even answers questions about what really makes us human; the movie is humanist at heart, and somehow remains hopeful in this rainy, smokey neon world.
