(1982) Blade Runner.

SCIENCE- FICTION FILM NOIR.

The first film adaption from a story written by Science- Fiction writer Philip K. Dick- the others also include "Payback", "Minority Report", and "Total Recall".

If someone were to ask me what was one of the most influential movies in history, it would also have to add this one to the list which is the stepping stone for many futuristic films of Neo-Tokyo such as "Akira" and "Ghost of the Shell" to name a few and perhaps many other film makers such as John Woo because of his frequent uses of using doves. The story is like watching a science fiction 'film noir' in which the overall story-line takes place mostly in the dark with not much action sequences. The story which revolves around uncontrollable androids or in this film replicants which look like humans that are creating an environment too dangerous to live in because of their unpredictable behavior sets up the objective about why people like Rick played by Harrison Ford were hired to exterminate them. He also happens to fall in love with one of them which was supposed to create some conflict but really it doesn't.

Although the 'ultimate DVD' offers viewers up to 5 different endings, they're really only two existing endings theatrically screened for audiences- the directors cut and the original 1982 version which the two endings are completely different. In all fairness, I never saw the Ridley Scott's directors cut because I did not like the way he cut the original ending right out therefore I can't give it a proper rating. But between the two versions I still prefer the 1982 version because it does show some solidarity since throughout the entire film consisted to have many dark environments and it wasn't until the end that it finally showed that everywhere was not like that. It has also been said that this was Harrison Ford's least favorite film to work on probably because it was perhaps his most hardest one to do which demands realistic gruelling and grim locations.

4/4 only for the 1982 version.
