Review of Blade II (2002) by Baurushan J — 06 Feb 2013

Although the movie was pretty good, it doesn't live up to the first Blade movie even though it is directed by Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy director Guillermo Del Toro. The film takes place in Moscow where Blade's next greatest enemy is is a vampire leader named Damaskinos played by Thomas Kretschmann who wants to make peace with him.

Unfortunately for them both, his son Jared Nomak played by Luke Goss holds a grudge against his father for making him a vampire and wants to kill both Blade and his father Damaskinos. His father is an ancient vampire who is obsessed with making a superior vampire race of his legacy; vampires that have three-way jaws, bone-armoured hearts, total resistance to silver and garlic and night vision.

He also has a daughter named Nyssa who is naturally born a vampire from her father's genetics but is unaware of his darker side. But unfortunately, Nomak succeeds in killing his father and fights Blade but he finds his weak point and kills Nomak.

Blade also takes Nyssa out in the sunrise as she has been infected from Nomak's bite even as a vampire as she dies by her last wish to see the sunlight. This is just one of those movies when you look at it for the first time, you go "Woah!" but when you have a look at the movie more than once, it starts to dumb down.

Blade II gets a 6.5/10.
