Review of Blade II (2002) by Justin H — 11 Mar 2013
The borderline-chaotic fight scenes, set to a deafeningly loud rap-rock/heavy metal score, are directed and edited for maximum kinetic impact. Popcorn nonsense for sure, but shot with a wit, skill and understanding of its audience all too rarely seen in the genre.
For sheer demonic energy, there's nothing else around to touch this follow-up by Guillermo del Toro. The cast were good, Wesley Snipes is still great as Blade but the rest of the cast are all second fiddle, some great special effects and some hit and miss.
A worthy sequel that has more action and more violence than the original, the only difference with this and it's sequel...it that this should've been the FIRST film. Worth a viewing but not much else but still better than modern vampire film to date.
