Review of Blade II (2002) by Benjamin C — 28 Mar 2010
I didn't quite enjoy this one as much as the first, but a stellar and solid action film to say the least.
Blade teaming up with vampires to fight something worse? Something that preys on both humans AND vampires? Scary! The Blade movies have definitely taken vampires to new and wierd places. I'm not crazy about it, but I certainly don't hate it.
Wesley Snipes delivers the same level of bad assery he did in the first, even taking it to a new level. I'm glad they brought back Whistler (Kris Kristofferson), but it still felt a little cheesey. However, the cast in this movie (especially Ron Perlman) really made this a better cast of characters to follow compared to the first.
I did object to how they seemed to use more computer effects to create the fight scenes, and saddly there were no exploding vampires. It wasn't better or worse than the first, but it was definitely different.
