Review of Blade (1998) by Marc L — 11 Apr 2010
In a mood for a bit of the ultraviiiiolence? This is a movie which doesn't require much thought, there's a madman bent on world domination and another trying to stop him. Wesley Snipes is very mechanical in his performance, which works in its own way, but makes it difficult for us to take him seriously in some of the more emotional scenes (see Whistler's death).
Kris is enjoyable as Whistler, Dorff is adequate as Deacon Frost, Wright is great as the girl, really bring some humanity into the story, shes totally underused though. I liked the violence in this movie, it was very visceral and stylized.
This is a total guys film, so if you want some action, see this, if you want a story, head for the drama section of your local blockbuster.
